Diamond Award
RM HSSE Diamond Award – (RM Contractors)

RM will present one Global Diamond Award.  One finalist will be selected from each of the geographic areas (Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMA), Asia Pacific).  These three finalists will then be invited to an award dinner and be eligible to receive the Global Diamond Award.  The global winner will be announced at the dinner.

The award will be presented to the contractor who has a quality HSSE record for work performed on RM sites and is determined to have contributed the most to RM's success in the areas of HSSE Leadership, Innovation, and Sub-contractor Management.

>
Any contractor that meets the Excellence Award criteria for all services performed under contract with an RM region is eligible to apply for the Diamond Award.  A company can only enter in one of the geographic areas.  Contractors must submit an application by March 1, 2007.  A panel including independent reviewers will judge the entries.
All contractors providing submissions agree to give RM permission to use the information (in part or whole) in RM and BP publications, notifications or websites.  The contractors agree that such information may become part of the public domain.

Euro Dismantling Services Ltd

On Wednesday night, April 18, Remediation Management celebrated and recognized our contractors’ contributions in helping us to achieve our HSSE goals of No accidents, No harm to people, No damage to the environment. The performance of our contractors is integral to the overall HSSE results of the Function.

The event was held at the Abbington located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. John Bennington, HSSE Compliance Manager was our host for the evening. John welcomed the attendees on behalf of Joan Wales, Head of Function, Joan’s Leadership Team, and all of RM’s Management, and reviewed safety procedures, made more poignant by a reference to the tornado warning that caused participants at the first Diamond Award banquet to shelter in place. Following dinner, Luke Keller, President Atlantic Richfield and VP Operations RM, addressed the group reviewing the Diamond Award process and highlighting the challenging HSSE performance criteria finalists needed to meet to even be considered for the award. Luke also recalled RM’s enduring priorities (safety, compliance, reputation, everything else) noting their close correlation with performance against the Diamond Award criteria.

Kevin Heaton spoke on decommissioning and the expanding role we will have in this area. To meet our goals of becoming a center of excellence in decommissioning will require the continued development of expertise, competencies and experience in dismantlement and deconstruction. It will also require the continued partnering with quality suppliers exemplified by the two that were honored at the banquet.  Each finalist was then recognized for their achievements. Chris Winsor, Regional Manager-West, introduced Arcadis-BBL and described their recent dismantling and sampling work associated with the PRC-421 (Bird Island) project offshore California. Kevin Heaton introduced this year’s Diamond Award winner, EDS, and described there excellent management of the Baglan Bay dismantlement in South Wales. Dan Hardisty, HSSE Manager-Americas concluded the night’s activities by sharing his thoughts on the significance of participants’ achievements in being a Diamond Award Finalist and in contributing to the successful completion of decommissioning with no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to the environment. Rena LaRosa & John Bennington
